Kayak Guide/Outdoor Educator- Part time
We are looking for a part time kayak guide to join us for the upcoming outdoor excursion season! Our season starts at the end of May and runs until the end of October.
Hours will usually be around 10-15 per week (maybe less in colder months, maybe more in warmer months), and some weekday morning availability is a must. We can have you done with work by 2pm, if needed. We are flexible with schedules!
What does a guide do?
-Safely lead kayak tours of groups from 2-10 people (bigger groups get two guides) in local waters, providing excellent paddling assistance and instruction, as well as local ecosystem and history knowledge
-Load/unload kayaks and sometimes clean equipment
Our PERFECT candidate:
-Strong paddling ability and knowledge of safety on the water (please make skills/experience clear when you apply)
- We will train you but we can’t start from scratch
-General knowledge of the local ecosystem and local history
-A big personality, friendly and personable
-Ability to drive a truck and trailer, while navigating busy traffic, boat ramps, and parks
-Ability to lift 60 pounds
-In good physical condition, as kayaking can require strong physical activity
-A strong desire to help people have a great time and make positive lifelong memories
-A clean background check is a must!
Starting pay is $15/hr and goes up from there, and you will find that the tips can be outstanding!
Training for this position will start immediately. We can teach you the job BUT YOU MUST ALREADY BE A GREAT PADDLER! Unfortunately, we do not have time to teach you how to paddle.
Does this sound like you? Send us your resume at capefearadventurecompany@gmail.com!
