Who we are

THE TEAM

Picture

Austin Adams
Owner, outdoor guide, camp counselor, accountant, promoter, etc.

An elementary school teacher for the past twelve years, this business grew out of a need to "survive" during the summer.  In 2015, Austin started this business with two kayaks, forty dollars, and a lot of friends nice enough to let him borrow kayaks, and he is very proud of what it has become. He grew up kayaking, boating, playing in the marsh, and exploring the waters of the Bogue Sound, about an hour north of Wilmington and has been exploring the waters around Wilmington for the past twenty years.

Tyler Rohrback
Outdoor Camp Assistant Coordinator and Counselor

Tyler grew up in Upstate New York but has lived in Wilmington since 2015.  Tyler is also an elementary school teacher, in addition to being a coach with Hammerheads Youth FC. A 4th grade teacher at Forest Hills Elementary in Wilmington, Tyler joins us each summer for the camp season, as well as picking up a few excursions.

Abby Shaughnessy
Outdoor Guide and Environmental Educator

Abby is originally from Connecticut and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Marine Biology.  After college, she worked as a researcher with a whale watch in Bar Harbor Maine and as a marine science instructor on Catalina Island in California. She's new to Wilmington and can't wait to explore her new home with you this season!

Katheryn Kell
Camp Counselor

An education major at Kennesaw State University, Katheryn will join us as a camp counselor for camp season this year.  She is the current Assistant Coordinator of After School programs at Indian Knoll Elementary in Canton, GA during the school year.

Jenny Adams
Office Manager

In addition to the tough job of keeping Austin and these two boys straight, Jenny handles a lot of the office tasks that are really hard to do from a kayak, such as scheduling and contacting customers.

We're bored of the beach.....

We are committed to providing visitors with authentic, local Southeastern North Carolina experiences.
Join us!

Over the years, I've met so many people who've rented a house in our area for a week.  Like most folks that don't live at the coast, they usually start the week excited about the prospect of sitting on the beach for six or seven days, with nothing to do.

However, right around the third day, they start to get a little bored. Even sitting on the beach can get a little boring, if it is eight hours a day for seven days.  At that point, the questions begin.  What else is there to do around here?  Have you done______________?  Have you been to _____________?

Those conversations are where this business began.
